AMERICA TRAVEL GUIDE

visit America map

Just as its not possible to simply visit Europe or Asia properly in one go because of their size, the same applies to America - or the United States or America - to give it its full title. Around the size of Europe with a population of around 320 million people, you will only be able to see a small slice of this great country on any one visit. It definitely has something for every taste - you just need to find where your interest lies.

Whilst everyone is different, below is an outline of the most popular destinations for us Brits when heading across the Pond.

AMERICA HIGHLIGHTS - Popular Places to Visit

- New York: New York City is the UK’s favourite long-haul destination. You won’t get bored on Manhatten Island with its many attractions including the Empire State Building, Times Square, some amazing museums and Central Park. Trips over Brooklyn Bridge or taking the free Staten Island ferry past the Statue of Liberty are further highlights.

- Florida: Orlando is very popular for family holidays with us Brits and along with the great weather, one of the main attractions are the great theme parks on offer, including Walt Disney World Resort, SeaWorld and Universal Studios Florida. Miami is also an ideal destination if you are looking for great beaches and good nightlife.

- California: Home to San Francisco, Los Angeles (and Hollywood) as well as San Diego. An ideal destination for sun worshippers and those looking for a laid-back holiday destination.

- Las Vegas: Viva Las Vegas indeed! There’s plenty of flashing lights,  entertainment and fun on offer and you don’t even need to gamble to enjoy yourself here. Also, the Grand Canyon can be visited on a day-trip from Las Vegas.

- Other cities of interest: In the north-east there’s Boston, Philadelphia and Washington DC. More centrally, Chicago makes for a good city break. Close to stunning nature, Denver in Colorado is popular. In the north-west, there’s Seattle (only a few hours drive away from Vancouver in Canada). And down in Texas, Dallas and nearby Forth Worth offer southern hospitality, as does New Orleans in neighboring Louisiana.

- Nature & National Parks: The USA has plenty of stunning national parks to offer nature lovers. Some of the most well known and popular include Yosemite National Park, Yellowstone, the Rocky Mountains and the Grand Canyon. Full details of what is on offer and how to reach them can be found at America’s National Park Service website.

The above is just a taster of what is on offer. From New York to Texas, from Hawaii to Alaska, the variation between the different States means that the list of attractions America has to offer for holiday-makers is almost endless.
